ESSEY WORKIE

SENIOR CONSULTANT & LEADERSHIP COACH

Essey Workie is a leadership coach, public speaker and human services expert.  She leads Multicultural Coaching, where she directs organizational strategy and execution and serves as the lead Senior Consultant and Leadership Coach.

 

Essey has held senior positions in the public and civic sectors.  She coaches leaders at all levels, and specializes in creating a safe and confidential environment to help government and nonprofit organizations meet their diversity and inclusion goals.  Essey has advanced training in leadership development and is a graduate of Georgetown University's Institute for Transformational Leadership and the Brookings Executive Education for Executive Leadership.  

A veteran trainer and presenter, Essey is a sought-after speaker who focuses on inclusion and authentic power.  She recently delivered remarks at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Georgetown University. 

Essey has championed the cause of children and immigrant communities since 1999.   She worked in human service programs providing direct services to families, developing policy and administering programs. She has expertise in child support, child welfare, refugee resettlement and unaccompanied children's programs. She has received numerous awards for her leadership and expertise, including the Social Worker of the Year award and the federal government's Excellence Award.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master’s of Social Work. She is a member of the International Coach Federation, American Psychological Association, National Association of Social Workers and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.
